JAMMU, Mar 14: Former Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MLA from  Bijbehara constituency Abdul Rehman Veeri has criticized the Government for its failure in settling the problems of displaced Pandits from Valley putting up in different parts of Jammu region.
In a statement issued here today Mr Veeri lambasted the Government for enforcing 18 hour power cuts in Jagti township out of 24 hours as power supply remains completely off during the night hours. This is a cause of concern as the curtailments have added to the woes of inmates of the township particularly the old and infirm in these hot days.
Veeri, who accused the Government of its total failure in mitigating the sufferings of the migrants from Valley said despite the assurances no steps were taken regarding the enhancement of cash relief. The migrants are sitting on dharna at Jagti township and in front of Relief Commissioner’s Office for over 50 days now and the Government is completely sleeping over the issue. This shows the callousness of the coalition towards the hapless people, he added.
Veeri urged the Government to take immediate steps in mitigating the sufferings of the displaced people by ensuring the proper power supply at Jagti township during the Summer season and also take steps in enhancement of cash relief as demanded by the displaced people in view of the sky rocketing prices of essential commodities.
