JAMMU, Feb 7: IIM Jammu organized Leadership Summit, which was inaugurated by Anand Kripalu, MD, CEO & Member, Diageo Global Executive Committee, in the presence of Dr B S Sahay, Director IIM Jammu and Dr Burhan Muqbil, chair, Leadership Summit.
The other dignatories at the summit were Vijay Gambhire, MD & CEO CEAT Specialty Tyres; Ranjit Singh, former MD, Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd; Mukund Walvekar, Ex MD & Chief Executive Officer, Acer Ltd; Anita Bhogle, Chairperson, Prosearch Consultants; Sandip Das, Member of the Advisory Board of Sterlite Technologies, former CEO of Maxis Communications, head Reliance Jio Infocom and Lalit Kumar Naik, Director, Noveltech Feeds Private Ltd, Mumbai.
Theme for the summit was “Leading India through Innovation, Growth, and Diversity” with a vision to seek answers pertinent to the Indian Economy which aspires to be five trillion by 2024.
In his address, Prof B S Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, highlighted the vision of IIM Jammu which is to develop leaders and entrepreneurs who can perform globally to make a valuable difference to the society and the corporate world.
Anand Kripalu shared the five lessons he had learned during his professional life. He urged students to learn and grasp as much as they can during the initial stages of their career and stressed the need to take charge and be control of the situation.
The first Panel discussion revolved around “Circular Economy for Sustainable Development – Role of Corporate India”. The discussion was led by Anand Kripalu – CEO, Diageo, Global Executive Committee; Ranjit Singh – former MD, Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd and Prof Jabir Ali, Professor (Economics), IIM Jammu.
Mr Anand explained the difference between a Linear Economy and a Circular Economy. Prof Jabir Ali discussed how a business can support a circular economy, barriers to a circular economy, how to overcome the barriers and Biosphere Rules for Circular Production. Ranjit Singh discussed the 4Ps that businesses should adopt for a circular economy – Planet, Purpose, People, and Profit.
The second and final panel discussion for the day was on the theme ‘Inclusive Growth: How to ensure the Economic System to work for All?’. The panel was moderated by Talat Pervez Rohella, Secretary (Higher Education), J&K Government and panel members were Vijay Gambhire, MD & CEO CEAT Specialty Tyres; Mukund Walvekar, Ex Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Acer Ltd, Bengaluru and Raju Chaudhary, Chairman KC Group, J&K.
