Mehbooba, Omar deserve to be freed: Priyanka

NEW DELHI, Feb 7:
Questioning the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s decision to book former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah under Public Safety Act (PSA), the Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today said ”they deserve to be freed, not incarcerated indefinitely without any basis”
Taking to Twitter, Priyanka said the two former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers have upheld the Constitution and abided by the democratic process and never ascribed to violence and divisiveness.
“On what basis has PSA been slapped on Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti? They upheld the Constitution of India, abided by the democratic process, stood up to separatists, and never ascribed to violence and divisiveness”, she tweeted.
Sharing news report, that the Union Territory officials have booked both Mr Abdullah and Ms Mufti, the Congress general secretary further said, “they deserve to be freed, not incarcerated indefinitely without any basis”.
Abdullah and Ms Mufti are incarcerated since August 5, when the Union Government abrogated Article 370, and divided the State into two Union Territories.
The administration, had also booked, Mr Abdullah’s father and former Union Minister Farooq Abdullah, under PSA, sometime ago.(UNI)
