Amnesty scheme for domestic consumers

JAMMU, Mar 26: State Cabinet today accorded sanction to the Amnesty scheme for liquidation of electricity dues and interest in respect of domestic consumers.
Under the scheme, 100% surcharge on the outstanding electricity charges as on March 31, 2011 will be waived off provided the domestic consumer makes the outstanding payment by or before March 31, 2013.
Those domestic consumers, who have paid their bills till March 31, 2011 will not be eligible for refund under this scheme and after the lapse of amnesty period, both the Chief Engineers of EM&RE of Kashmir and Jammu will apprise the department about the sub-division/division wise arrears of electricity charges collected/interest waived off against their domestic consumer by them.
Any default in payment in accordance with the scheme will disentitle the consumer from the benefits of the scheme. The consumers, who don’t avail the benefits of the scheme and liquidate the outstanding dues within the period, will be liable for disconnection of power supply to their installations without any further notice.
For the implementation of the scheme, special camps will be held in each division and arrears outstanding ending March 2011 will be made public.
