Dal Lake to be beautified under Smart City Plan: Div Com

SRINAGAR, Feb 14: To restore the glory of world famous Dal Lake, the administration is taking up its beautification process under Smart City Plan.
This was stated by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan here today during a meeting convened to review various issues pertaining to the Dal Lake.
He said that smart cards will be distributed among the Dal dwellers and directed the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to submit a complete report in this regard to Div Com office immediately.
The Divisional Commissioner directed LAWDA to deploy men and machinery on western site of the Dal Lake and clear the portion of weeds by February 25 and asked the SMC to provide two tippers and loaders along with manpower to LAWDA within two days for loading of weeded material for dumping.
The Collector LAWDA was asked to complete the land acquisition process of Dole-Demb by March 31 and directed DC Srinagar and VC LAWDA to monitor the process on daily basis.
Div Com further asked the Srinagar District Administration and LAWDA to demarcate state, private and LAWDA land on Eastern Foreshore side and submit the report to the Divisional Commissioner’s office within three days.
The meeting was informed that 4792 families have been surveyed in 60 Hamlets by Revenue Department as per the list provided by LAWDA. Collector LAWDA was asked to complete the survey within one week.
Regarding Western Foreshore Road, the meeting was apprised that R&B Department has submitted DPR to Administrative Department for approval.
The Div Com asked the LAWDA to complete the alignment work within two days.
The meeting was informed that ongoing work of STP at LAM Nishat will be completed by August 2020.
Div Com stressed that DPR for the additional STPs in periphery of lake should be completed within 10 days and DC Srinagar was asked to monitor the process.
Chief Engineer, UEED was asked to submit the DPRs to the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir’s office for Brarinambal.
Threadbare discussion was also held on mapping of encroachments, strengthening of enforcement wing, plantation drive, installationof dustbins, repair of walk ways and other issues pertaining to Dal Lake.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, VC LAWDA, Chief Engineer R&B, Chief Conservator Forests, Director Floriculture, SMC Commissioner, Collector LAWDA and other concerned were present in the meeting.
