Ex-Policemen League highlights demands of retired cops

JAMMU, Feb 15: The Ex-Policemen League Jammu District convened a meeting for highlighting the issues of retired policemen. The meeting was arranged by Sham Sher Bhagat, General Secretary of the Association, and also attended executive members and advisors of the body .
During the meeting, various issues came up for discussion, which included introducing OROP extension of welfare schemes, providing of plots/flats in Police Colonies, re-imbursement of medical bills and treatment, reservation in Police recruitment, adequate scholarship and educational loan at zero percent interest, sponsoring children of police personnel in professional colleges/universities, providing succor by adjusting jobless wards against need based placement and wet canteens and police hospitals at district level, expediting the revised pensions as per SROs, engagement of retirees on comparative emoluments and financial assistance to those who are suffering from serious ailments incurable diseases for specialized treatment.
The members also demanded that the scholarship amount in favour of the meritorious wards of the policemen should be enhanced considerably to enable them to take further studies, coaching and other facilities and grant of substantial amount for those interested in sports and other extra-curricular activities to explore their talent to shape their future and reservation for the wards of ex-policemen in Police Department .
The Association stressed that if any retired Police personnel visits the Police Station, Police Chowki or any other office for getting his problems solved, he should be treated as a part and parcel of the Police family and as a serving official for which the DGP should issue a circular . The circular should also issue direction to each Police Station/Police Chowki to enquiry about health conditions of the retired Police personnel residing under their jurisdiction for extending all possible help, the Association said.
