JAMMU, Feb 16: Jhajjar Kotli and Nagrota Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 30 cattle and arresting 6 smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by SHO Inspector Rajesh Khajuria laid a naka and intercepted three vehicles bearing registration numbers JK21D-0643, JK02AW-8133 and JK02AV-7394.
During checking, police team rescued 12 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested three persons, who were identified as Mohammad Junaid, son of Mohammad Shafi of Maitra District Ramban, Bisso, son of Brahm Dutt of District Samba and Dalbir Singh, son of Attar Singh of District Samba.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Nagrota headed by Inspector Mohammad Shokat intercepted two vehicles.
During checking, police team rescued 18 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested three smugglers, who were identified as Nowshad, son of Hasham of Uttar Pradesh, Bhopal Singh, son of Phool Singh of Uttar Pradesh and Altaf Hussain, son of Nazir Hussain of Ragoora Sidhra District Jammu.
Police also seized a Scorpio car bearing registration number JK02BX-8999, which was being used the bovines smugglers for Reece of route.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Jhajjar Kotli and Nagrota Police Stations and investigation started.
The arrests were made under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma.
