JAMMU, Mar 28: Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) held a protest rally at Jagti migrant camp against the Power Development Department (PDD) asking the migrants putting up at Jagti camp to enter into agreements with the department.
The protest was led by Shadi Lal Pandita president JTC. He said since the camp accommodation has been provided to the Kashmiri migrants under PM’s package as such the power supplies are required to be ensured as per past practice of 22 years and no fee should be realized from migrants till their homes and hearts are restored to them in Kashmir valley.
He said the Central Government was bearing all the expenses on account of power and other charges for migrants putting up in camps.
He said Pandits have suffered a huge loss during last 23 years of turmoil and hence they be exempted from power and water tariff. He said the Centre was providing relief to migrants for their sustenance and the State Government was forcing them to pay the same as power tariff.
The protestors expressed their concern over the Government’s attitude which is committed to rehabilitation of militants who are responsible for killing of innocents, Indian forces and forced the Kashmiri Pandits to leave the Valley and is ignoring the plight of the Kashmiri Pandits who are victims of terrorism.
The JTC leaders appealed the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner to ensure uninterrupted power supply free of cost to Jagti camp. It warned that in case the PDD fails to restore free of cost power supply to camp a complete bandh will be observed at Jagti on April 2.
B L Dhar, T K Dhar, P L Thusoo, S L Tickoo, Rajinder Dhar, H N Bhat and others addressed the protestors.
