NHM employees’ deputation meets Union Health Minister

JAMMU, Feb 18: A deputation of All JK NHM Employees Association headed by its president Rohit Seth met with Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, at his residence in New Delhi.
Submitting a memorandum of demands, Rohit Seth briefed the Minister about the long pending demands of the NHM employees working in J&K. He reminded him of their meet held in last year, regretting that despite submitting the memorandum and a lapse over one year their grievances have not been redressed.
The charter of demands submitted to the Minister includes various demands including regularization of all categories of NHM employees with wage grade similar to their counter parts in the health departments, enhancement of salary of NHM staff of both Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh UTs, grant of leave benefits as per agreement arrived at and on the analogy of the states of Orissa and Tripura and release of salary of the NHM staff for the agitation/termination period as agreed upon during negotiations.
Dr Harsh Vardhan gave a patient hearing to the demands put forth by the NHM delegation and assured them that he will try to resolve all their issues.
Among others who were part of the deputation include Dr Raman Sharma (general secretary of Association), Dr Nazir Hussain (joint secretary), Mohit Seth (vice president) and Mukesh Singh (secretary, Jammu district).
