UDHAMPUR, Mar 28: Continuing its drive against drug menace, Udhampur Police today seized 111 kg Bhukki, which was being smuggled from Srinagar to Jammu in a truck.
Police have also seized the truck and arrested the drug peddler, identified as Majid Mohd of Shaian Talab Bari Brahmana.
According to police, a special naka was laid at Kud following inputs of drug smuggling. During the checking of vehicles at the naka, a truck bearing registration number JK02AD-4059, on way from Srinagar to Jammu, was signalled to stop. Driver of the truck, however, ignored the signal of Police party and tried to flee. On this, cops chased the vehicle and arrested its driver. During checking of the truck, six bags of Bhukki weighing 111 Kgs were recovered from cabin of the vehicle.
The naka was led by SHO Kud Ajit Singh and SDPO Chenani Gian Chand Sharma under the supervision of SP Udhampur Benam Tosh.
A case FIR No. 24/2013 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Kud and investigation of case was going on.
