Over 1300 litres kerosene oil seized, one held

JAMMU, Mar 28: Police today seized over 1300 litres of kerosene oil meant for public distribution and arrested one person in tehsil Akhnoor.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Akhnoor police station laid a naka and intercepted a bus bearing registration number JKO2D-6287.
During checking, police recovered 150 litres of kerosene oil and arrested the driver identified as Ramesh Kumar, son of Beli Ram of Thathi Gour subsequently.
During questioning, he revealed that he had purchased the oil from a kerosene oil depot situated at Daga, tehsil Akhnoor.
Police party conducted a raid and recovered 1160 litres of kerosene oil from the depot, he said, adding, that the owner of the depot identified as Sikander Kumar, son of Shanker Dass, managed to flee.
A case under FIR number 57/13 has been registered at Akhnoor police station and manhunt has been launched to arrest the owner of the kerosene depot.
Police party led by SHO Mahesh Sharma made the arrest under the direct supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Rayees Mohd Bhat.
