Govt nod to prosecution of 3 docs

JAMMU, Mar 28: The State Government has accorded sanction for prosecution of three doctors for the offences punishable under Section 304-A RPC and Essential Services (Maintenance) Ordinance.
Police cases already stand registered against these doctors, identified as Dr Showkat Ahmed (Medical Officer), Dr Javid Iqbal (Anaesthetist) and Dr Mohammad Saleem Tak (Surgeon Specialist).
Against Dr Showkat Ahmed Parray, a case FIR number 162/2011, under Section 304A-RPC was registered in Police Station Ganderbal after he administered some wrong injection at SDH Ganderbal resulting into death of a patient. Ignoring warning of relatives of the patient namely Saja that she was allergic to Ciftrixone, the Medical Officer Dr Showkat Ahmed administered injection of said medicine.
Similarly, case FIR number 239/2003 under Section 303-A and Section 5/7 Essential Services (Maintenance) Ordinance, 2001 was registered at Police Station Anantnag in Kashmir against Dr Javid Iqbal and Dr Mohd Saleem who had left the headquarters without any permission and could not be contacted for attending the injured of grenade blast at District Hospital Anantnag on 21-5-2003. Unauthorized absence of the doctors resulted into death of a grenade victim, identified as Kamlesh.
