DC cancels illegal entries of 7205 kanal forest land

POONCH, Feb 19: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Rahul Yadav has cancelled illegal entries in the revenue record of nearly 7205 kanals and 13 Marlas of Forest land in Surankote area of district Poonch and directed the Tehsildar to make entries of Forest department on this land under the illegal occupation of people.
Official sources said that the District Collector Poonch, through order vide endorsement No. DCP/SQ/3912-15 dated 18-02-2020, has cancelled all illegal mutations on Khasra No. 1112, 1116, 1117, 1283, 1289, 1289/1 and 1290 village Hari recorded as Gair Mumkin Jaar falling within demarcation line of forest in Aks/ Tatima and has directed Tehsildar Surankote to make requisite revenue entry in favour of Forest department in revenue record for area measuring 7205 Kanal and 13 Marla.
While referring to Section 48 of J&K Forest Act and Section 79 of Indian Forest Act, the official said that persons/ Govt employees bound to assist forest officer demanding his aid in prevention of commission of any forest offence and discovering and arrest of offender. Persons includes every person in the village continuous such forest who is employed by Government or who receives emoluments from the Government for the service to be performed for the community. Lt Governor has also directed that `official involved in encroachment of Govt land to be dismissed. In above cases also, it has been found that some employees have also grabbed such lands directly or indirectly. The action under law is being initiated against them. Moreover, eviction drive is being initiated shortly, the official added.
