UDHAMPUR. Feb 19: Police rescued 54 bovine animals by foiling two separate attempts of the cattle smuggling at Tikri and Chenani, here today.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that a Police party, led by SHO Rehambal, Insp Virender Gupta, assisted by SI Jasvinder Choudhary, IC PP Tikri, under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur and Dr Rohit Chadgal, DYSP Hqrs Udhampur, laid a naka at Tikri NHW and intercepted two trucks bearing registration number JK02X -0951 JK05B- 7082. During search, 28 bovine animals were found loaded in both the trucks without any valid permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and accused smugglers namely Satpaul Singh son of Hari Singh of Ward number 01, Simbal Camp, RS Pura, Amjad Khan son of Alam Din, resident of near Ravi Dass Temple, Bishnah and Arshad Ahmed son of Gh Mohi-ud-din of Allahpora, Baramulla were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, two cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is going on.
In a similar success, , Chenani Police led by SHO Paramjeet Singh laid a naka at Motorshed, NHW, Chenani and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK14B- 8995 . During search, 26 bovine animals were found loaded in the truck. All the bovine animals were rescued and both the accused persons namely Tousif Akhtar of Batote and Shadab Akhtar of Batote were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Chenani.
