POONCH, Feb 20: Village Fathepur of Block Mandi and its surrounding hamlets, are without water for the last more than ten months due to callous attitude of PHE Department.
The residents of the village today held strong protest demanding restoration of water supply. They shouted slogans against senior PHE officers and District Administration, Poonch. The villagers said that they were suffering due to acute shortage of water in their areas as water supply in the area has been affected for last about one year now.
The villagers alleged that Lift Scheme was not functioning and went out of order but the concerned PHE authorities failed to get it repaired and restore drinking water supply.
A local of the area, Farida Begum said the matter was brought to the notice of concerned JE, AE and even the AEE PHE Mandi but unfortunately no action was taken by the officers. SDM Mandi and Tehsildar also know about the issue, but they are also unconcerned about public plight.
The people of the affected area registered strong protest today against PHE Department.
Mohd Bashir Khan along with other villagers urged upon the higher authorities at Poonch to ensure water supply to the area as soon as possible, otherwise, people would conduct ‘Gherao’ of DC office at Poonch.
