DODA, Feb 25: Rich tributes were paid to martyr DySP Aman Kumar Thakur on his first martyrdom day near Clock Tower, here.
A large number of people hailing from village Saraz assembled near Clock Tower here and paid tributes to the martyr DySP Aman Kumar Thakur.
Carrying banners on the name of martyr DySP Aman Kumar Thakur, the people prayed for the peace to the departed soul and also lit candles.
Son of DySP Aman Kumar Thakur attained martyrdom in encounter during search and cordon operation at Turigam village of district Kulgam of South Kashmir on this day last year. Three militants were also gunned down in the gunfight.
“Government should take a decision once and for all and go for ‘Aaar Paar’ war so that the issue is settled for decades to come and no woman in future will become widow or a child becomes orphan”, the mourners said.
Son of Swami Raj and a resident of village Gagla Sar in Kastigarh area of District Doda, Thakur was a 2011-batch Jammu and Kashmir Police Service Officer. He is survived by aged parents, wife Sarla Devi and seven-year-old son Arya.
As reported, Aman Thakur gave up two Government jobs to don the uniform. After Post Graduation in Zoology from Jammu University, he first got a job in the Social Welfare Department and was later appointed as Lecturer with School Education Department.
While talking the EXCELSIOR, the people of martyr’s native village in District Doda have asked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take decisive steps against Pakistan sponsored militants in Kashmir.
“Decisive steps should be taken to teach Pakistan a lesson for sponsoring terror activities in Kashmir”, they said, adding that “DySP made supreme sacrifice for the nation and youth should follow his footprints to serve the nation”.
