RAMBAN, 25: Police arrested a man for smuggling liquor.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka near T-Chowk and intercepted a pedestrian, who was moving under suspicious circumstances and was trying to escape from the spot on seeing the cops.
During checking, police team recovered 38 quarters of illicit liquor which the pedestrian was smuggling to his native village to make illegitimate profits and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Shafi, son of Alaf Din, a resident of Halla, Dhandrath, District Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 26/2020 under section 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered against the accused person at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Sunil Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Haseeb-Ur-Rahman.
