Centre approached for Gojjri’s inclusion in 8th Schedule: Altaf

RAJOURI Mar 29: Minister for Forest and Environment, Mian Altaf today said that Government has already recommended to the Central Government the case of inclusion of Gojjri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution whileas efforts are on for setting up Gojjri Departments in Kashmir and Jammu Universities.
The Minister was addressing at a function “Gojjari Aadbi Oar Saqafati Millan” organized, in memory of a renowned Gojjri poet Mian Mohamad Israil Assar, by J&K Academy of Art Cultural and Languages , Rajouri branch in collaboration with Anjuman Gujjri Zaban-o-Adab Daramshala Kalakote at Government Higher Secondary School, Lambari today.
S.P. Rajouri, SDM Kalakote, Editor, Mansha Khaki, President, Anjuman Zaban-e-Aadab, Mian Nazir Bajran besides a galaxy of scholars, poets and prominent citizens, which included Dr. Khajuri, Dr Vikar and Iqbal Azeem were present on the occasion.
Highlighting the role played by Mian Assar for promotion of Gujjri language, Mian Altaf said “it is our duty to work for taking his mission forward”. He said role of Ismail Assar will always be remembered on such occasions in future also because of the contribution he made in promotion of Gujjar language and will never be forgotten.
The Minister said that State Government has already recommended to Central Governments include Gojjri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution and hoped that a decision would be taken at appropriate time. He said certain initiatives have been also taken to get established Gojjri Departments in Jammu University and Kashmir University, so that students can go for higher studies in the Gojjri Language.
Mian Altaf said that Gojjri language is not only spoken in J&K but also in several parts of subcontinent. He said holding of such programmes will go a long way in promoting this ancient language and appealed participants to play their role for this noble and ethnic cause.
Several dignitaries spoke on the occasion and threw light on the literary journey and life of Mian Mohamad Israil Assar and the role he played for promotion of Gojjri language.
