KATHUA, Feb 26: Kathua Police while tightening its noose on bovine smugglers has launched a manhunt against bovine smuggling in the district.
Today a police team of Police Station, Kathua while on patrolling and naka checking duty at Kharkra Morh intercepted two trucks bearing Registration Number JK02AE-4925 and PB11CM-5268, coming from Punjab towards Jammu via Kathua. The police stopped the vehicles for checking during which 30 bovine animals (22 Oxen & 08 Cows) were found loaded in the vehicles in a cruel manner.
Police rescued the bovine animals and a case has been registered at PS Kathua Vide FIR No. 49/2020 U/S 188/279, IPC 3/5 PCA Act and further investigation of the case is going on to catch the drivers and smugglers. The two vehicles were also seized by the police.
The handout issued said Kathua Police is striving hard and taking every possible step to curb bovine smuggling menace. Police has also sought support from people to share information about bovine smuggling on police help line numbers for the cause. It has assured that the identity of the person giving the information will be kept confidential.
