MENDHAR, Feb 28: The residents of Jugal village and its adjoining areas in Mendhar Sub Division are up in arms against the authorities for dilapidated condition of the Sakhi Maidan Chowk to Jugal road.
The condition of the road is so bad that most of the operators have stopped to ply their vehicles on this road. The road at many places through out the stretch is dotted with potholes, posing risk of accidents.
A local villager said that earlier the construction work of this road was with PW(R&B) Department, which was shifted to ERA and now, it has been handed over to PMGSY. The construction work is going on very slow and the people have been left to face troubles. He said that this road connects 15 Panchayats including 8 rural areas.
The locals of the area Mohd Ikhalaq Hussain, Abdul Qyoom and others said that the concerned department has failed to undertake even minor repairs of this road. Despite approaching the concerned authorities, no action was taken, they said.
“We are suffering immensely due to dilapidated condition of this road,” a local said, adding that they have now urged the LG, J&K UT to consider this genuine issue and direct concerned officials to improve the road.
