2 fraudsters booked

JAMMU, Feb 28: Crime Branch Jammu has booked two fraudsters for duping a person by introducing themselves to their victim as employees of Snapdeal.
FIR has been registered against Teja Singh of Kullu Himachal Pradesh and Sharad Kachru Lal Bhagat of Maharashtra for duping the complainant to the tune of Rs 13, 64,800/- by fraudulent means.
The action was taken on the written complaint by Arun Kumar of Ward number 5, Reasi, who had ordered a purse on 13.10.2018 through Snapdeal followed by a few messages reporting shipping and transit status. Before the delivery, he received a SMS from MD-SNAPDEAL regarding winning of prize Maruti Suzuki Dezire VXI and amount prize of Rs 8,50,000.00. Initially the complainant ignored the message but after half an hour, he received a phone call on his mobile from +91-842037187 introducing himself as Sharad Bhagat, an employee of www.snapdeal.com who allured the complainant to deposit registration fee. The complainant transferred huge amount in the name of GST, Income tax, RBI charges etc in various bank accounts of accused persons on the pretext of receiving prize.
On receipt of the complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated and during the enquiry, it was established that the fraudsters namely Teja Singh son of Maan Dass and Sharad Kachrulal Bhagat son of Kachrulal Babulal Bhagat in criminal connivance with some other associates had allured the complainant and duped him of his hard earned money to the tune of Rs 13, 64,800/- by fraudulent means. Thus the allegation were substantiated.
