JAMMU, Mar 30: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today informed the House that Deputy Commissioner, Kathua has stated that till date the Collector Land Acquisition (Thein Dam Project) Basohli has processed the cases of 1015 oustees for appointment in the Thein Dam.
The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Jagdish Raj Sapolia in the House. He said, however, as per information received from Ranjit Sagar Dam authorities only 242 candidates have been appointed. Regarding their posting to far-flung areas of Punjab, he said, it is the prerogative of Ranjit Sagar Dam authorities (Punjab Government) after their appointment is made by them.
Mr Sham said as per the MoU signed between Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab Government 15% of the entire personnel required for the construction and operation of the Thein Dam Project in all categories shall be taken from Jammu and Kashmir cadres, subject to the actual availability. He said it has also been mentioned in the said MoU to provide immediate employment opportunities to the displaced persons from the Thein Dam Project and, the authority charged with the construction of this Dam at various level shall give preference in the matter of employment to such person.
