NC has held high traditions of secularism: Kamaal

SAMBA, Mar 30: Dr.Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal Additional General Secretary alongwith Rattan Lal Gupta State Vice-President J&K National Conference addressed a public meeting at NC office Samba. The meeting was organized by Satwant Kour Dogra Vice-President Women’s Wing Jammu Province.  Prominent persons including Panchs & Sarpnachs & those who joined NC from BSP & Pather Parties also addressed the audience highlighting the problems of their areas.
Rattan Lal Gupta in his address recounted the historic role of NC in giving ownership rights of land free of cost, freedom from rural indebtedness under the land reforms at the advent of Awami Raj in 1948. This gave benefit to people uniformly in all the three regions of the State, he added.
Dr. Mustafa Kamaal said side by side with land reforms and debt relief NC has upheld the high traditions and values of secularism and will continue to strengthen them. He said despite opposition and skepticism by many Omar Abdullah pulled off long delayed Panchayat elections, which has empowered people at the grass root level. He cautioned the people to remain vigilant all the time to protect and nurture this very important institution of democracy if they want to obtain full benefits from it.
