Rajya Sabha adjourned for the day over Delhi violence

NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day on Wednesday amid ruckus created by the the Opposition members over recent Delhi violence which claimed over 45 lives.
Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad and his deputy Anand Sharma had given a suspension of business notice under Rule 267 over the Delhi business.
Responding to it, Chairman Venkaiah Naidu said that the discussion will be held after Holi.
At this, the members started protesting and a visibly peeved Chairman said it seems that the Opposition parties are not interested in any kind of discussion in the House. As many as 16 Zero hour mentions, including that of deadly Coronavirus, were submitted, but the Opposition stalled them, he added.
While the Opposition leaders insisted on an immediate debate on Delhi violence, the government wants it to be held post Holi.
This was the third straight day when the proceedings were disrupted since the beginning of second part of Budget session on March 2.
