Addressing a public programme this morning and later speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the function, Dr Jitendra Singh said the formation of new political parties is a healthy sign for democracy as it will end the monopoly of some individual politicians and dynastic parties who distanced the people of the J&K from rest of the country for their vested interests for the decades together.
In response to a question, he said, citizens have the right to be offered different options in a democracy, so that they can decide and accordingly elect what they think is the best for them. To that extent, he added, every individual or a group of individuals also enjoy the prerogative to float a political outfit and try their luck at the hustings by campaigning about their programmes, manifesto and agenda, as long as it does not violate the framework of Indian Constitution or does not seek to create strife or disharmony in the society.
Without directly referring to the reports of scheduled formation of a new political outfit called Jammu Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP), Dr Jitendra Singh said that every new political party offers new democratic option and therefore all those having faith in democracy should welcome it.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, after the new Constitutional arrangement having come into existence since the 5th and 6th of August 2019 and the creation of new Union Territory from the midnight of 31st Oct last year, the message should go loud and clear that the political hierarchy of Jammu & Kashmir will no longer be monopolized or confined only to a handful of individuals or families and dynasties.
Reiterating Narendra Modi Government’s resolve to weed out corruption from the country, Dr Jitendra Singh said there will be no compromise with corruption and corrupt elements in the administration. The Government has already started action against corrupt and tainted people in J&K and more officers with corrupt track record will be taken to task to restore the people’s faith and confidence in the system.
“There are some more officers against whom action will be taken in the UT to make the system clean and transparent”, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said Modi Government is committed to its promises with the people of J&K and process of the delimitation has started now. All the Central laws will be implemented in the UT one by one, he added.
Allaying people’s apprehensions regarding jobs, the Union Minister said that youth will get employment and there will be such a transformation in the UT which one would have never imagined like what happened on August 5 & 6 and October 31 last year. He said youth will definitely get jobs as new avenues of employment are being created in the UT but some people will remain unemployed for which “we have no remedy. ”
Dr Jitendra Singh said “jobs will come in the UT more than one’s imagination and people from outside are coming for investing here”. Big business houses are ready to make Rs 2000 crore investment in J&K which will create avenues for employment also, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that Narendra Modi showed in real sense what autonomy and self rule are when two tier elections to basic institutes of democracy was held in J&K. These democratic institutions were ignored and deprived of powers for 70 years by dynastic parties who gave catchy slogans of self rule and autonomy for decades together to befool the people, he added.
While lauding the Modi Government for launching many public welfare schemes including Jan Aushadi, Dr Jitendra Singh said only a leader can bring such public welfare schemes who is linked to ground. He said under the scheme one person who had to spend Rs 10,000 on purchase of medicine has now to incur only Rs 1000 for the same.
He said Kathua is the only Parliamentary Constituency which got three Medical Colleges in five years and the AIIMS is being opened in adjoining district to Kathua. He said many educational institutions have also been opened in Kathua and in coming times the town will emerge an education hub which will attract students from neighboring States of Punjab and Himachal.
He said even under PMGSY the Kathua-Udhampur and Doda Lok Sabha Constituency received larger share for its development. He said the developmental works which were not taken on war footing basis by earlier Government due to certain reasons have received a pace now.
Earlier, to commemorate the Jan Aushadi Diwas, a function was held at Government Medical College here, at which Dr Jitendra Singh and others witnessed the live telecast address and interaction by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi from New Delhi. On the occasion, he also handed over the keys of two Medical Ambulance vehicles to the Chief Medical Officer in the presence of Principal Government Medical College Dr Suleman Choudhary, District Development Commissioner O P Bhagat, Chairman Kathua Municipal Council Naresh Sharma and others.
Several beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana spoke on the occasion and narrated their experience as to how the medicines from Jan Aushadhi Kendra had enabled them to make substantial saving in their monthly budget. There was also a demand to open more of such Jan Aushadhi Kendras, popularly known as Modi Clinics up to the village and block level.
