KATRA, Mar 10: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Technology Business Incubation Centre, in association with School of Biotechnology SMVDU, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) SMVDU, JK Start-up Association (JKSA) and Society of Biologists, J&K, is carrying out a unique hackathon “Biothon 2020”, an online event with sector focus on various fields of biology.
Chairperson (GC & MC) SMVDU, Vice Chancellor Prof R K Sinha launched this event at SMVDU, Katra. This event will attract ideas/solutions from all over the country to problems related with biology sector which require technical interventions. Ideas related to global issues prevailing currently in the sectors like agri-business, waste management, energy management etc will also be considered in this hackathon.
This event will run over a span of one month during which a person can submit their idea on www.smvdutbic.org. Post submission, the shortlisted ideas will be invited for business presentation and final innovative solutions will be facilitated by SMVDU TBIC, offering incubation, IP facilitation, mentorship support and financial support to develop the prototypes and final products. The main objective of conducting such events is to attract solutions related to major problems mainly in the field of biology. Such events conducted within region give a major boost to the morale of students as well and motivate them to participate and share innovative ideas.
Prof R K Sinha also launched “RISE (Research & Innovation for Social Empowerment) by SMVDU TBIC”, an online programme hosted by SMVDU TBIC team in which the team will apprise general public about SMVDU TBIC and the types of facilities available at the Incubation centre. This programme will create awareness among the region and will encourage individuals to share their unique and innovative ideas. This program will be broadcast live on Facebook and Twitter channel of SMVDU TBIC, every Friday 11 am for a period of 1 hour. Users can share their queries which will be addressed by SMVDU TBIC live. This initiative is taken so that SMVDU TBIC can reach to a wider audience and help facilitate them for their entrepreneurial activities.
