UDHAMPUR, Mar 11: Continuing its drive to contain the spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, Udhampur police today seized 62.42 kg of poppy straw from a truck, which was intercepted at Motorshed, Chenani Udhampur.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that a Police party of PS Chenani, led by SHO, Inspector Paramjeet Singh, under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur and Ahmed Shaafi Zargar, SDPO Chenani, laid a naka at Motorshed, National Highway, Chenani and intercepted the truck bearing registration number HR62- 5786.
During checking, 62.42 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle. Driver of the truck, namely Rajdeep Singh, son of Bhag Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab , was arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 45/2020, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Chenani and further investigation of the case is going on.
