JKAF organizes self-defence program

Srinagar, Mar 11: Jammu and Kashmir Awami Forum today organized a self-defence training program for girls of the valley at Tagore hall here.
Hundreds of girl students from different schools of the valley participated in the program. The students were taught different self-defense techniques to escape from a potentially dangerous situation during the program.

Chairperson Jammu and Kashmir Awami Forum, Farooq Ahmad Ganai, said that they are committed to the upliftment of the youth in the valley, “We want our society free form corruption, violence, and drug addiction. We will start yoga and martial art training centre in every district. We will work for the upliftment of the youth as they are our only assets,” he said.
Abida Baba, one of the trainers, said that the program was held to provide self-defense training to the young girls in view of the growing crime against women, “cases of abuse and drugs have increased. We want to teach them the art of self-defense to stay away from trouble. Such programs are important for the safety of girls these days,” she said.
The participants considered such programs compulsory for girls. “It will help us to save ourselves from the harm. More such programs should be conducted,” Shifan, one of participant, said.
