Christian Sabha delegation calls on LG, submits demands

JAMMU, Mar 16: On behalf of entire Christian community of Jammu Kashmir Union Territory, All J&K Christian Sabha today called on Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu and apprised him about various demands and issues of the community for positive consideration.
Led by Ashu Peter Mattoo, the delegation submitted a memorandum of various genuine demands and issue of Christian community, which are pending for the last 70 years and not considered by any of the Governments of J&K State thus depriving the community from all major benefits of Government. The delegation also raised various issues of Christian community connected to Safaikaramcharis.
Main demands listed in the memorandum, included; constitution of Christian Welfare Board by Government for the welfare of Christian community in JKUT, allotment of land for graveyard for Christian community of Jammu West, allotment of Housing Colony to houseless (rented) and congested house (joint family living in small house) of Christian community under “Pradhan Mantri Awas Yogna” and municipal housing flats to Safaikaramchari’s in Sidhra area, representation in Minority Commission of India, changing the name of the Chowk and road in the name of St Mother Teresa of Calcutta and establishing her statue in the small park in the Chowk near petrol pump at Ambphalla, representation to Christian community in Jammu Municipal Corporation and Srinagar Municipal Corporation as selected Coun-cilor, providing “Ayushman Bharat Yogna” or “Jan Arogya Yogna” to Christian community, equal job opportunity to Christian aspirants in all the departments of Government under SSB or UPSC and representation of Christian community in Political, Educational, Government, Board and Commissions of JKUT, scholarship schemes to Christian student for Pre and Post Metric, Professional courses, UPSC/ SSB/ PSC courses and studying abroad and allotment of seats to Christian aspirants in Govt Colleges of Medical, IIT, Degree, Civil Service Exam, Defense Services Exam and Central Services exams, availability of Prime Minister’s 15 Point Programme for Minority to Christian community of J&K and OBC or SC status to Christian community of J&K.
The LG listened to all points very patiently and agreed to fulfill all the demands at the earliest. Besides Aashu Peter Mattoo (president), the delegation comprised of Jarnail Khokhar (Chairperson), Sunny Khokhar (Gen-Secretary), Tony Mattoo (Vice President) and Vicky Bhatti (Treasures).
