JAMMU, Mar 16: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust organised a meeting to take stock of the recent political developments and also to chalk out strategies for the smooth passage of the temples and Shrines Bill for which the KP community and the Trust is relentlessly struggling for the last over a decade.
Secretary of the Trust, Sundri Lal Koul apprised the members about the activities of the Trust and invited them to suggest their views for the future course of action.
The members expressed concern that the previous political dispensations and even the present ruling establishment in the UT is not displaying any sense of urgency in a matter that is very critical to the socio cultural existence of the people.
They expressed dismay that only lip service and false promises have been made all along in the past regarding the passage of the Bill. Moreover, with the passage of time and with the uncertain law and order conditions in Kashmir the temples and shrines are at an increased risk of completely vanishing from the eco system. Once it happens that would be a monumental tragedy as the priceless heritage of more than 5000 years would be lost for ever. Kashmir Temples are the living symbols of the pristine Sharda civilization and belong to all Kashmiris irrespective of religious affiliations.
Members said that when there can be an Auqaf Act and Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Act why not a Kashmiri Pandit Temple and Shrines Bill.
The members of the Trust who were present on the occasion included Roshan Lal Pandita, president PNBMT, Virender Raina president Panun Kashmir, B.L.Bhat chairman Nagdandi Ashram, H.L.Bhat Executive Temple Committee Tral, Sundri Lal Koul coordinator Hindu Welfare Baradari Vessu, Shadi Lal Koul general secretary PNBMT, Kashmiri Lal Bhat Advocate, Dr.R.L.Handoo, Bansi Lal Zar, Pradeep Koul Khodbali noted writer,Sanjay Pandit president Umabhagvati Asthapan and M.K.Bharat writer.
President Roshan Lal Pandita appealed the members of the Trust to be absolutely pro active in the coming days and said that the Trust may have to adopt agitational path and come on to the streets for the passage of the Bill. The protest demonstration in this regard is postponed due to the coronavirus advisory.
