POONCH, Mar 17: A total traffic mess and mismanagement on the part of Traffic police and local Administration has made the life of the people of the area at Mandi town of Poonch district very miserable.
The residents of Mandi Tehsil headquarters of Poonch alleged that the local Tehsil Administration and traffic police have failed to manage increased traffic flow and moreover, lack of traffic management has made their movement in the main market a difficult task.
Due to the absence of proper traffic management patients get stuck in traffic jams for hours together and at times it proves fatal,” a local said.
The local residents have appealed the higher authorities and District Administration to intervene into the matter and ensure proper traffic management in the Mandi town. They pointed out that wrong and idle parking of the vehicles in the main market and in front of the Hospital is yet another reason of traffic mess.
The further pointed out that the traffic jams have also hit the business in the town. During the peak hours, government employees, students and the businessmen are the worst sufferers. According to the commuters, every day they face relentless problems due to the heavy traffic jams in the busy Mandi town and also near the bridge.
Moreover, illegal car parking from Mandi Bus Stand along the front road of SDH Mandi is one of the reasons, for the traffic congestion.
A local resident said that few years ago, construction of a bypass bridge had started but unfortunately till now, it is going at snail’s pace. The JKPCC agency has failed to complete the construction of the bridge in stipulated time period.
