JMC Commissioner asks officers to maintain proper sanitation

JAMMU, Mar 18: To further intensify the sanitation drive and to avoid spreading of coronavirus, Avny Lavasa, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) took stock of the various areas viz. Parade Raj Tilak Road, Purani Mandi, Super Bazar, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazar, Talab Khatikan, Dalpatian Mohalla, Shahidi Chowk, DC Office, Residency Road, Commerce College road, Dr. Goel Lane, Old University Road  and other adjoining areas.
The Commissioner issued on spot directions to the concerned officers for complete sanitation of these areas as well as Thermal Fogging and spray of Sodium Hypo Chloride Solution including religious places (Mandir/ Masjid/Gurudwara/Churches).
She further issued directions for proper cleaning of Parade collection point and all the refuse/C&D Waste be lifted properly from the collection point.
The Commissioner directed the Chief Transport Officer for proper de-silting of nallahs at Kabir Colony, Kunj Vihar Lane Sector 4, Nanak Nagar etc. and it was informed by the CTO that total of 400 MT of silt removed from seasonal nallahs including 20 MT of garbage under special cleanliness /sanitation drive lifted from above mentioned areas apart from routine sanitation work.
In total 10 tippers; 4 JCB’s; 30 laborers were engaged for nallah desilting. About 150 SKC’s also worked during the entire sanitation drive.
The Commissioner further appealed the general public to come forward and join hands with Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in maintaining proper sanitation and also to stop spreading of Coronavirus as without the help of citizens it is hard to achieve the goal of clean Jammu Green Jammu.
During the tour Health Officer, Chief Transport Officer and District Malaria Officer accompanied the Commissioner, JMC.
