POONCH, Mar 18: Ahead the fence, dozens of villages/ Panchayats in Balakote block of Mendhar Sub Division are without basic facilities like, water, power supply, roads and mobile phone connectivity.
A Govt Primary School at Panjani in Dharati Panchayat is lying roofless for the last more than a decade. Nearly 50 students of this Govt school are getting education there but sitting under open sky. The road connectivity to the area is only lying in Govt office files but not on ground. The people of the area also deprived of the mobile phone connectivity. The people of this LoC belt have the mobile phones but no towers or the phone connectivity.
The students of this school are facing acute drinking water problem. Same is the condition of the people of this area. They have no proper hygienic water for their use. Neither bunkers are build up there nor any safe location is available with them in case of Pak shelling. They are living under the `shadow of guns’.
Shamim Akhter, Chairperson from BDC Balakote said that the residents of these Panchayats are really deprived of the basic amenities by the Government. They really need the immediate attention of the District Administration.
She said that all the promises made with the locals have never been fulfilled. No work is visible on the ground. She said Lt Governor must hold probe into the matter as most of the works projected by RDD or other agencies only remain in files.
