2 bootleggers arrested

SAMBA, Mar 21: Intensifying its drive against the sale and transportation of illicit liquor, district police Samba has arrested two bootleggers and recovered 51 bottles of illicit liquor from them.
Acting on the reliable information regarding transportation of illicit liquor for sale in the area, a police party of Police Station, Samba headed by its SHO laid a naka at New Bus-Stand, Samba and intercepted a motorcycle bearing Registration Number JK08E-5270, which was moving towards Kathua. During the checking of the said motorcycle a total of 51 bottles (50 bottles 180 ml each & one bottle 375ml) of illicit liquor were recovered.
The accused persons identified as Romi Kumar, S/o Tarsem Lal (bike rider) and Naresh S/o Deepak Raj (pillion rider) both R/O Mertha, Barnoti, Kathua have been arrested on spot and illicit liquor along with motorcycle was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 71/2020 US 48 (A)/ 48 (F) Excise Act has been registered at PS Samba and further investigation started.
