COVID 19: 3 MPs release Rs 1 cr each

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Mar 21: To combat COVID-19 threat, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and National Conference Members of Parliament, Dr Farooq Abdullah as well as Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi today released Rs one crore each from their respective MPLAD fund.
Dr Jitendra Singh, who represents Kathua-Udhampur Parliamentary constituency, has released the MPLAD fund as allocation to the Health department of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for COVID-19 prevention and care.
A letter for recommendation of the same in his capacity as Lok Sabha MP from Udhampur-Kathua-Doda, was issued today from Dr Jitendra Singh’s office to the District Development Commissioner, Kathua.
National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah also released Rs one crore from his MPLAD fund to combat the threat of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir. Out of the released amount, Rs 50 lakh have been earmarked for SKIMS, Srinagar and Rs 25 lakh each for Ganderbal and Budgam districts.
“I hope the amount I have released from my MPLAD fund will give required flip to the efforts of the concerned agencies to deal with the situation in an effective way, “ NC President said while expressing concern over the situation unfolding across J&K.
He stressed that the Government should on priority basis come up with an emergency approach of a coordinated and consistent response to stop the situation from escalation. “Need of the hour calls for improved surveillance, more emergency clinical services, implementation of public health measures, effective advisories, and greater coordination between different agencies against the threat,” he added.
Meanwhile, upon the directions of Farooq Abdullah, MP Anantnag, Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi also relased an amount of Rs one crore to augument the efforts in combating the spread of COVID 19 in his constituency. The released amount will be equally distributed in the four districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam.
