Rehabilitation package and its procedure and formalities for the refugees from West Pakistan needed simplification so as to avail one time compensation of Rs.5.5 lac per family in a hassles free way. In this connection, it is heartening to note that the Administrative Council which met under the chairmanship of the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu approved simplification of the procedures and the overall process with immediate effect.
In respect of a deceased refugee, the requirement of producing the succession certificate which in such cases were creating lot of difficulties, has now been dispensed with and not made mandatory in order to claim the benefits under the package. A certificate issued by the concerned Tehsildar certifying the survivor as the legal heir would serve the purpose. Proof of having been a Parliamentary voter too could serve the purpose.
