SC vacates stay order against italian envoy in marines case

NEW DELHI :  The Supreme Court today recalled its  earlier order directing the Italian envoy to India Mr Daniele  Mancini not to leave the country without prior permission of the  court.
The apex court had passed the restraint order following the  announcement of the Italian government not to send the two  marines back to India to face trial in two Kerala fisherman  killing case.
The Italian government, however, later agreed to send the  marines back to India and both the marines returned on March 22  i.E. With the deadline fixed by the apex court to return.
The apex court has earlier granted them permission to go to  Italy for four weeks to participate in the general elections in  the country on the undertaking given by Mr Mancini on behalf of  his government that the two Italian marines will come to back to  India latest by March 22.
The two Italian marines were, however, sent back following  the assurance given by Indian government that the two marines  shall not be hanged.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Altamas Kabir, Justices Anil  R Dave and Vikramjeet Sen has now cleared the decks for Mr  Mancini to go wherever he likes.
