4 J&K labs approved for COVID-19 testing

JAMMU, Mar 23: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved 4 Government laboratories from Jammu and Kashmir for conducting test of COVID-19.
These laboratories are in Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, Army’s Northern Command Hospital at Udhampur, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Srinagar and GMC Srinagar.
While laboratories at GMC Jammu, SKIMS Srinagar and GMC Srinagar are already conducting tests for COVID-19, testing facility at Command Hospital, Udhampur is yet to be started.
Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department, J&K, Atal Dulloo told Excelsior that Command Hospital, Udhampur is ready to conduct tests of coronavirus, however, no sample has been received by the hospital yet.
Dulloo further informed that within few days, India Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIM) will also start conducting tests for this dreaded disease after which we will have three testing facilities in Jammu province alone.
“Besides this, collection centers for samples of coronavirus have also been established in five new GMCs in Kathua, Doda, Rajouri, Anantnag and Baramulla,” the Financial Commissioner added.
