JAMMU, Mar 24: A virtual ‘death trap’ on Janipur-Bantalab Road at Chinore has been posing risk to the lives of many people including bike- riders and the pedestrians.
Though several VIPs, judges, officers in the Jammu District and Sub Divisional (North) Administration besides staff members of Jammu Municipal Corporation pass through this road but this death trap continued to pose serious threat to the lives of the people and small children of the locality.
This open large pit exists just near a large mango tree and Haray Krishana Ashram. Many devotees including elderly people visit this Ashram. Where there is power break down in the locality, the risk of falling into this death trap increases. Two times a calf and a cow fell into the same but were saved by the locals. A car got trapped hardly last week which was later removed with hard efforts of the locals.
Not only this open whole of the drainage system but the Municipality drain is also blocked there at the site. The dirty water from this drain during rain flows on the road. The concerned Sanitary staff, Supervisor and even the Health Officer was informed about the matter by the locals but nobody took it seriously. Now, when the Coronavirus has posed major threat, the negligence on the part of JMC staff and non-clearance of this blocked drainage system has been giving sleepless nights to the residents of the locality. They urged upon the Commissioner JMC and Deputy Commissioner Jammu to take serious note of it and come to the rescue of the public.
