JAMMU, Apr 2: In pursuance of earlier call given by Jagti Tenement Committee Jagti Nagrota a protest rally was organized and held at Jagti Migrant Camp which was attended by office bearers, members of Jagti Tenement Committee, inmates of Jagti Migrant Camp as well as Migrants from different Migrant Camps of Jammu including Muthi.
The protest rally proceeded towards Kandoli National Highway but the police authorities did not allow the protestors to proceed beyond Jagti Main bridge.
The protesters raised slogans against Government’s policy and accused it of harassing of migrants.
While addressing in the rally Sh. Shadi Lal Pandita, President JTC has said that the government has been forcing the Migrants putting up in Jagti Migrant Camp as well as other Migrant Camps for executing agreements with Power Development Department to bear the electricity charges which cannot be borne by the Migrant community till permanent rehabilitation of the Community with grant of compensation for the losses suffered by it during past 23 years on account loss of their properties in Kashmir valley.
The protestor said that presently 18 hours long curtailment is being thrusted in Jagti Migrant Camp which has made the inmates to suffer. An appeal has been made to the Government as well as to the department concerned for ensuring proper and un-interrupted power supplies to this Migrant Camp.
They decided that the Migrants from all camps with hold a joint protest at Press Club Jammu on April 5.
Others who addressed the rally include B.L. Raina, P.L. Thusoo, T.K. Dhar, Rajinder Dhar, Ajay Bhat, T.S. Malhotra, Muthi Migrant Camp President & Santosha Ji Mahila Wing of Jagti.
