PHE employees demand wages for workers

UDHAMPUR, Apr 2: Executive body meeting of PHE Employees Association was held for the districts of Udhampur and Reasi under the chairmanship of Som Nath, president INTUC and Jammu provincial vice president of the Association.
The association appealed the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma for an early release of pending wages which have not been paid for the past 12 months due to which the workers were facing starvation like situation. Association demanded that provision of funds should be kept in Budget for timely payment of wages of workers.
Other demands highlighted in the meeting pertained to change of designation as per nature of job being performed by the workers and immediate DPC be conducted which has not been held for the past 15 years.
Association also demanded posting of new staff for new Water Supply Schemes so that the existing staff was not over-burdened and the schemes could run smoothly. It also demanded regularization of all daily wagers, ITI workers, community participation workers etc who have completed seven years regular service under SRO 64.
Conversion of CP workers as also imprest/estimate workers who are recruited with the assurance of regularization into daily wagers and the said practice should be stopped in future.
While addressing Som Nath appealed the Government to fulfill al the genuine demands of the employees so that they may not be compelled to adopt path of agitation.
Others who addressed the meeting included Vijay Kumar, Rattan Singh, Baldev Raj, Suraj Parkash, Subash Chander, Jagdish Magotra, Shiv Lal, Bharat Singh, Luxman Singh, Chuni Lal etc.
