Kemu’s Nagar Udasy all set to be staged for premier show

JAMMU, Apr 2: Legendry playwright Moti Lal Kemu’s Nagar Udasy is all set to be staged for premium show on April 5 and 6 at auditorium of Women’s College Gandhi Nagar here. The play was staged for a selected gathering of intellectuals and art knowing people at KP Sabha here this evening during the theatre workshop.
Over a score of budding artists have undergone training during the theatre workshop. The play is directed by Ravi Kemu  a well known film maker. The Nagar Udasy (The Melancholic City)is Kemo’s longest and best play written in 1997. The play has four acts and it is structurally different from Kemu’s earlier plays in many ways.
The play which revolves round the king Anant Deva, his, Queen Suryamati and his son Kalsh Dev is based on Raj Tarangni. The story is about a period when not only the king but the people of Kashmir were also in great distress and depressed, a period of uncertainty and anxiety, tension and turbulence in Kashmir history like today.
