Only PDP has vision for good governance, peace: Mufti

JAMMU, Apr 2: Stating that an era of regional parties has begun all over the country, former Chief Minister and chief patron of main Opposition People’s Democratic Party, Mufti Mohd Sayeed today said that PDP provided not only an alternative in Jammu and Kashmir but also a vision for good governance and peace.
“Only PDP has a vision and commitment for changing the system to deliver justice to everyone in Jammu and Kashmir and carve out a new path of peace and progress in this region”, he said while addressing a party convention of Jammu East at Brahmin Sabha, here today.
The Mufti also lashed out a ruling National Conference and termed the Coalition Government as directionless regime.  “Despite running a Coalition Government National Conference and Congress don’t have consensus on vital issues pertaining to the State and they are in alliance only to grab power,” he said.
The former Chief Minister recalled the achievements of PDP regime and said that people of the State witnessed an equitable development of all regions, employment to educated unemployed youth at their door step and an accountable Government with transparency. “We did not resort to arresting people with ideological difference but sought to convince them that Jammu and Kashmir has a great future only under Constitution of India,” he said amidst applause by the party workers, comprising a number of women.
Exhorting the party card holders to work hard and multiply the number of PDP activists, the Mufti said that aim of his party was to change the system to provide justice and equality to all sections of the society.
Earlier, addressing the convention, PDP general secretary Ved Mahajan alleged that National Conference, Congress and BJP were responsible for discrimination with Jammu region.
Newly elected MLC and senior PDP leader Yash Pal Sharma, in his address, predicted that the party was all set to form Government in Jammu and Kashmir with Mufti Mohd Sayeed as the Chief Minister.
