JAMMU, Apr 2: Government today assigned several tasks related to COVID-19 management to officers/committee of officers.
According to the order, Arun Kumar Mehta, Financial Commissioner, Finance Department, will coordinate with banks and ensure smooth flow of funds to the public while Dheeraj Gupta, Principal Secretary to Government, Housing and Urban Development Department, will coordinate with Urban Local Bodies (including their elected representatives) for COVID-19 management activities with focus on sanitation drives, fumigation, etc.
The order said that a committee comprising Shaleen Kabra (Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department), Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon (Principal Secretary to Government, School Education Department) and Talat Parvez Rohella (Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department) will see the work of mobilization of volunteers, their training and deployment (as and when required) for assistance to the administration in COVID-19 management.
Navin Kumar Choudhary, Principal Secretary to Government, Agriculture/ Horticulture Department has been assigned the task of restoration of agricultural activities while maintaining social distance whereas Simrandeep Singh, Administrative Secretary, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction will constitute COVID Coordination Committees /Groups.
Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary to Government, Social Welfare Department, has been tasked for monitoring the smooth functioning of Old Age Homes, Child care Institutions, Observation Homes, etc, besides coordinating with Police for utilizing their helpline for senior citizens.
In a separate order, Sheetal Nanda, Secretary to the Government, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDPR), has been asked to assist H&ME Department in coordination of production, distribution and outreach of masks, besides performing her own duties.
She has also been assigned the job of coordinating and outreaching through Panchayati Raj Institutions for public mobilization to ensure social distancing, awareness, etc for prevention of spread of COVID-19.
