Bhalla distributes ration among needy families

JAMMU, Apr 3: In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla today distributed ration among the needy families at Sanjay Nagar, Preet Nagar and Nanak Nagar slums.
He was accompanied by Narinder Singh, Sanjay Gupta Murli, Bansi Lal, Kulbhushan Sharma and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla urged the Government to take urgent measures to protect poor and vulnerable people in this time of crisis.
He said that lockdown has already resulted in loss of livelihood for the poor people while many of these are out-of-work and others are migrant workers stranded due to snapped rail and bus services.
“No doubt Indian Government is facing an extraordinary challenge to protect over a billion people but ramped-up efforts to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in India also needs rights protections,” Bhalla maintained.
He also demanded free food and cash help to the poor and apart from health insurance for healthcare workers apart from protective equipment for Safai Karamcharis, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and others.
Bhalla further said that COVID-19 pandemic warrants unprecedented response.
