RAMBAN, Apr 5: Former MLA and JKPCC, Ashok Kumar has urged upon the BJP Government that the statehood status of Jammu and Kashmir should be restored as it is genuine demand of the people belonging to both Jammu and Kashmir region.
He said that the Union Government had assured people for the restoration of statehood status to Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir once the situation is peaceful. Meanwhile, the atmosphere across the region is peaceful and the process of the development in terms of social, political and economic aspects in a vast geographical region can only be accomplished with statehood.
He also demanded constitutional protection to the land of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and forging a peaceful atmosphere for the smooth conduct of political process. The decentralization of the power is only possible once the statehood is returned to Jammu and Kashmir
Ashok appealed the Lieutenant Governor to make necessary arrangements to bring back the students, labourers and others who were stranded at various locations across the country due to COVID-19 lockdown.
