JAMMU, Apr 5: Traffic was suspended on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway after landslides at two places in Ramban sector during early hours today.
Official sources said that highway was blocked at Marog and Monkey Morh due to landslides and shooting stones at around 3 am today. It was light rain in the area during morning hours as well. The machines of National Highway authorities were pressed into service and the highway was restored at around 11 am.
DySP Traffic Ramban sector, Ajay Anand said that traffic on the highway remained suspended for about eight hours due to landslides at Marog and also near Monkey Morh. He said only vehicles loaded with essentials are being allowed towards Kashmir. All the stranded vehicles for Kashmir were cleared after the highway was restored.
Anand said at Dalwas sinking zone, the road is still single and slippery. The stranded oil and LPG tankers in Batote and Kud areas were also cleared for Kashmir this afternoon. He said it was light rain in Ramban area this evening as well and road may be closed again. But till 8 pm, it was operational, he added.
