Heavy shelling in Balakote, Mankote

JAMMU, Apr 7: At least three Pakistan army personnel have been killed and an equal number of them injured in retaliatory action by the Indian troops in Hajipeer sector on the Line of Control while the enemy troops continued heavy mortar shelling and firing for third consecutive day today in Balakote and Mankote sectors in Poonch district.

Reports said at least three Pakistan army troopers were killed and three others injured when Indian Army retaliated to heavy mortar shelling and firing by the enemy on the LoC in Hajipeer sector of the LoC this afternoon.
Indian Army didn’t suffer any casualties or damage in the shelling and firing that continued for about two hours.
Reports, however, said that Pakistan army was trying to push trained militants into the Indian territory under the cover of shelling and firing. But after the killing of three Pakistan army personnel and injuries to three others, the militants didn’t make any attempt to infiltrate, sources said, adding that Pakistan army has brought groups of militants at launching pads close to the LoC for infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir.
Troops have thwarted majority of intrusion bids by the militants across the LoC in J&K.
Reports said movement of ambulances on Pakistan side of the LoC was clearly visible and going by the reaction in their camps, it could be easily believed that number of enemy casualties was quite high.
Meanwhile, Pakistani troops shelled forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district for the third consecutive day today, officials said.
“At about 7.45 am today, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing from small arms and shelling mortars along the LoC in Balakote and Mankote sectors of Poonch district,” a Defence spokesperson said.
“The Indian Army retaliated in a befitting manner,” he added.
However, there were no casualties or damage on the Indian side.
On Monday, the Pakistani army violated the ceasefire and resorted to small arms firing and mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mankote area and on last Friday they fired in Sunderbani-Nowshera sector injuring six security personnel.
There has been no let up in ceasefire violations by the Pakistan army notwithstanding the fact that they too are facing crisis due to Coronavirus pandemic, like India, sources pointed out.
