NEW DELHI, Apr 8 : Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today formally flagged off the distribution of Kendriya Bhandar “Essential” kits for the needy, in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.
The consignment released by the Minister today comprised 2,200 kits consisting of various essentials items required for day-to-day living.
Pertinent to mention that Kendriya Bhandar, which functions under the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), has in response to the call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taken up a number of initiatives to assist the needy families, in the wake of the situation arising from lockdown following the COVID-19 outbreak.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading us from the front in the war against COVID-19 and it is the responsibility of each one of us to honour his advice and take responsibility of feeding at least one poor family every day till we get over the Corona crisis. He also appealed for encouraging the making of home-made face masks and appreciated the initiative taken in this direction by some of the Self Help Groups and voluntary organizations.
Of the 2,200 kits, prepared by the Kendriya Bhandar and released today, 1,700 were handed over to the SDM (Civil Lines) Central Delhi District and the remaining 500 are to be given to DM (Civil) Central Delhi.
Each of the kit prepared by the Kendriya Bhandar consists of 3 kgs of rice, 3 kgs of white flour, 2 kgs of daal, 1 litre of cooking oil, 500 gms of Chiwda/poha, 1 kg of salt, 3 packets of biscuits, 1 bar of bathing shop, and 1 bar of detergent.
Managing Director Kendriya Bhandar Mukesh Kumar, Joint Secretary Jaya Dubey and other senior officers were present when the consignment was released.
