Zulfikar demands special plan for tribal population

RAJOURI, Apr 8: Former Cabinet Minister Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali today urged the Union Territory Administration to make special plan for the tribal population which migrates annually from the plains of Jammu region and Peer Panjal to the higher pastures of Kashmir along with livestock, the only source of livelihood.
Zulfikar said that to provide safe passage and due permission for reaching to pastures, the administration must make arrangements for fodder.
Free food to the tribal/migratory population for 6 months and collecting of milk from there localities on market price, he demanded.
In view of bi-annual seasonal migration of nomads to upper reaches of Peer Panjal, Zulfikar also demanded a special advisory for law enforcement agencies to help them to cross various areas and routes they adopted since centuries.
“Tribal movement in several areas are facing extreme adversities and deserve special attentions of UT administration and Central Government”, he said and demanded free medicines and other basic facilities for Gujjar and Bakarwals.
